OVERVIEW

About Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship of Canada:

Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship of Canada is a 3-star charity. The charity has a B- Results Reporting grade, which is below average. Its overhead spending is 14%, within Ci’s reasonable range, although it reports no fundraising costs. Its reserve funds can cover under 1 month of annual program costs, which is within Ci’s reasonable limit.

Founded in 1929, Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship of Canada (Inter-Varsity) works to inspire young people to follow Jesus through summer camps and university campus groups. The charity states that six out of ten young people will leave their faith in university.

The charity’s Camp program operates summer camps where youth can explore the outdoors and participate in group activities, aiming to foster their community, leadership and spiritual development. The camp offers rentals and retreats for church groups.

Inter-Varsity’s Campus program includes groups that offer Bible studies, leadership development, prayer groups, and community activities on university campuses. It offers groups at 61 university campuses across Canada.

The charity runs Workplace Ministry groups for people transitioning into the corporate environment. The community groups meet twice a month, with the first session dedicated to discussing books on faith or a bible passage, and the second to talk about the practicalities of being Christian in the workplace.

The charity runs Missions, focused on short-term mission trips, including global partnerships in support of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES) and local urban partnerships. Inter-Varsity holds Urbana, a triennial student missions conference that brings together college and graduate students, faculty, pastors, church and ministry leaders, and schools. The charity runs World Services, where team members serve abroad in student ministries in partnership with IFES or other mission organizations for at least two years.
