Finances

Streetohome Foundation is now fully financially transparent as of July 31, 2025. This means its 2024 and 2023 audited financial statements are publicly available on its website.

The charity’s audited financial statements follow line-item costing. This means it does not clearly separate expenses into program, administrative, and fundraising activities. This is not a best practice.

Streetohome Foundation received $1.1m in donations in 2024 (72% of total revenue) and $400k of government funding (26% of revenue).

Administrative costs are 14% of total revenue and fundraising costs are 6% of donations. Its 20% overhead spending means that for every dollar donated, 80 cents are available to go to the cause. This is within Ci’s reasonable range.

The charity spent $969k on programs and grants in 2024 – a 40% decrease from $1.6m spent in 2023. Streetohome Foundation is financing the Addiction Recovery Community Housing facility which has been under construction since June 2025.

At the end of 2024, Streetohome Foundation had $4.9m in reserve funds (cash and investments). Its reserves can cover 506% or just over five years of its annual program spending. This exceeds Ci’s 300% reasonable limit.

Note: 1. LINE-ITEM COSTING: Since Streetohome Foundation's audited financial statements follows line-item costing, Ci referred to its T3010 filings with the CRA to report program, administrative, and fundraising expenses. 2. GRANTS DISTRIBUTED: Ci included the value of grants distributed but reported below the line in expenses. This affected total expenses by $688k in 2024, $1.4m in 2023, and $623k in 2022. 3. DEFERRED DONATIONS: Since Streetohome Foundation follows deferred accounting, Ci adjusted donations for changes in deferred contributions to show donors the year-to-year movement of cash within the charity. This affected total revenue by $294k in 2024, ($633k) in 2023, and ($254k) in 2022.
