Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation is a 2-star charity. It has a C Results Reporting Grade, which is below average. Its overhead spending is 69%, outside Ci’s reasonable range. Its reserve funds can cover one year and ten months of program costs, within Ci’s reasonable limit.
Founded in 1995, Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation (ORCF) is dedicated to increasing cancer survivorship in Eastern Ontario. ORCF has two main programs, Cancer Care and Grants.
Cancer Care received 69% of program spending in F2024. This includes the Ottawa Community Cancer Hub, which offers programs centred around mental health, exercise, and nutrition for those affected by cancer, as well as support sessions for children, youth, families, and caregivers. In F2024, the charity reported that the Ottawa Community Cancer Hub delivered 556 wellness sessions and had 4,160 hub visitors. The charity also runs the Cancer System Navigation program, where experts offer resources, counselling, and health advocacy to support individuals affected by cancer. ORCF reported that its Cancer System Navigation program served 1,147 clients, with 646 new clients registered.
The Grants program received 31% of program spending in F2024. The charity collaborates with local research institutions, offers research grants, and promotes knowledge sharing through seminars and workshops. ORCF’s partnership with OlymPINK resulted in one new state-of-the-art ultrasound machine for the Ottawa Hospital Rose Ages Breast Health Centre. In June 2023, ORCF brought together 31 people with lived experience of cancer to discuss the systemic barriers to cancer care. The charity launched the REACH pilot project, which works with five health and resources centres to establish health equity initiatives focused on universal health access.
Established in 2008, ORCF also has the Richard and Annette Bloch Cancer Survivors Park, a 4.5-acre green space dedicated to welcoming cancer patients, survivors, and their families.
