Comments & Contact

Comments added by the Charity:

The following comment is from a previous profile. Additional comments may be forthcoming.

Secours aux Lépreux-Leprosy Relief Canada (SLC-LR) wishes to maintain its fight against leprosy for more than 4 years if for some reasons fundraising was to stop. There is a political will to announce that leprosy is eliminated. This news would greatly affect our fundraising. In fact, elimination is only a ratio. It means that there are less than 1 new case per 10,000 population. Since the world population is increasing, we will reach the elimination ratio without decreasing the number of new patients. Elimination means still more than 200,000 new cases every year. SLC-LR is working for the eradication of leprosy. The concept of eradication is more absolute and suggests at least the complete absence of transmission and new case detection. We also want to keep on supporting people affected from leprosy and suffering from stigma and discrimination.
