Finances
Partners in Mission Food Bank’s financial statements follow line-item costing, meaning it does not properly disclose which expenses relate to programming, administrative, and fundraising costs. This is not a best practice.
In 2024, PFB received $2.8m in donations, up 36% from the $2.1m received in 2023. In 2024, the charity also received $3.9m worth of donated food, which represents 57% of total revenues. Administrative costs are 2% of total revenues (less investment income). Ci uses the charity’s T3010 with the CRA to reconcile administrative expenses. At the time of this update, the charity’s 2024 filing was not yet available so the administrative expenses are likely understated and the charity reports no fundraising costs. Changes may be forthcoming once the 2024 filing is available. Based on the current administrative costs, for every dollar donated, 98 cents are available to go towards the cause. In 2024, Partners in Mission Food Bank spent $1.3m on its programs and distributed $3,9m worth of donated food. This represents 75% of total revenues.
In 2024, Partners in Mission Food Bank had $2.0m in its reserve funds. These reserve funds can cover just over one year and seven months of annual program costs.

Comment added to 2023 profile:
Partners in Mission Food Bank has been Kingston and Loyalist Township’s food bank for 40 years. We have set records for food hamper distribution, and individuals helped in 2021, 2022 and 2023. In 2023, 1 in 19 people in the Kingston and Loyalist communities received a food hamper from us. We strive to provide 7 days of food, and in October of 2023 we surveyed our clients, where 92.5% told us that their food hampers last 7 or more days.
With this level of demand, we have outgrown our home of 20+ years, and will be working to renovate our future home at 4 Harvey Street, just 400 metres West, for 2024.
A huge thank you to our small staff, dedicated 120+ volunteers and generous community.
