Chalice is a Canadian, Catholic child sponsorship organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable children in developing countries to complete their education.

Currently, Chalice operates sites in 13 countries: Bolivia, Chile, Ghana, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Kenya, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Tanzania, Ukraine, and Zambia. Each Chalice sponsor site is under local direction. Chalice works with religious and lay partner organizations.

Sponsored children each have unique experiences of poverty, depending on their community and family circumstances. Chalice's sponsorship model gives financial decision-making power to the people who know what the child needs best: their parents and guardians. Empowered with training and supported by staff, the parents get to choose how to spend or save sponsorship funds. They are accountable for prioritizing education followed by other family needs, such as nutrition and medicine.

Chalice uplifts sponsored beneficiaries by offering robust and integrated support for their flourishing in four key areas: education, nutrition, healthcare, and community development.

Education - The sponsorship program ensures children continue their education until they reach secondary, post-secondary, or vocational levels, facilitated by secondary programs like after-school activities, exam prep, and tutoring.

Nutrition - In the last year 24,000 food insecure children and elders ate nutritious meals through one of Chalice’s 37 nutrition programs. The nutrition programs served more than five million meals in community soup kitchens and school lunches.

Healthcare – Sponsored beneficiaries and their families have access to medical and dental care, and region-specific diagnostic screens such as hepatitis B and tuberculosis. In our FY2025-25, Chalice also responded to 168 medical emergencies such as grave illness and injuries.

Community Development- In our FY 2024-25, Chalice ran 80 complementary projects and programs that brought change to entire communities. These include large-scale home-building, school construction/renovation, sustainable farming, parent livelihood, mental health, and home heating assistance. From 2020-2025 Chalice has given more than 31,000 people in 23 communities access to clean, safe water through drilling wells.

Chalice is in control of distributing funds. The distribution of funds is mandated by Canada Revenue Agency regulations. They are audited by an external auditor and an internal auditor. All the funds that are sent to the sites are audited on a quarterly basis.

Chalice Canada is a registered charity in Canada under the Income Tax Act. Their CRA Registration Number is 13759 1012 RR0001.

In May 2021, Chalice was constituted as a Private Association of the Faithful by Archbishop Brian Dunn of the Diocese of Halifax-Yarmouth.
