Founded in 1999, TakingITGlobal (TIG) aims to engage and connect youth to create a more inclusive, peaceful, and sustainable world. TIG considers people aged fifteen to thirty as youth. TIG runs three main programs: Facilitating Connected Learning, Supporting Youth Action & Social Innovation, and Fostering Creativity & Digital Skills.
The Facilitating Connected Learning program received 59% of program spending. Under this program, Connected North provides educational tools, virtual field trips, cultural exchanges, and training to bring interactive learning to remote Indigenous communities. The program has delivered 1,017,909 minutes of interactive learning to its partner schools. In F2024, Connected North ran over 6,600 virtual field trips, with over 269,000 minutes of live learning. TIG also gave out digital inclusion grants in the form of granting laptops to 711 Indigenous students. Its Nunavut PD week held 25 sessions over five days with 1,093 teacher registrations.
The Supporting Youth Action & Social Innovation program received 27% of program spending. It supports youth through grants, fellowships, and learning experiences to help them create sustainable solutions for their communities. TIG supports Commit2Act, which allows users to record the actions that they take to fight climate change. In F2024, 3,992 actions were submitted and the app tracked that 2,706 tons of CO2 were saved through the reported actions. The program also included the Sprout Ideas Fellowship, which had 64 youth-led projects with over $192k in funds distributed and fifteen Sustainable Development Goals tackled through the projects in F2024. The program also included the Samuel Connect North Youth Leadership Fund, which distributed 38 community project grants and gave out mini grants to 14 Connected North schools in F2024. Through its partnership with YOUNGO, TIG hosted Local Conference of Youth events, with 29,150 attendees, and gave out $9,948 USD in micro-grants.
The Fostering Creativity & Digital Skills program received 15% of program spending. It helps youth build digital skills and confidence as creators. In F2024, it ran the Create to Learn program, with 95,136 views of skill-development resources and 51,459 submissions of artwork and photography to the Global Gallery. Its Code to Learn program, which helps Canadian students and teachers learn coding and robotics with a focus on social justice, reached 100,000 students with 10,000 educators participating.

In F2024, TIG reported that 96% of students who received Digital Inclusion Grants successfully graduated from high school.
For Connected North, the charity reported that 54% of students say that they are more likely to attend school when they know there will be a Connected North session. In F2024, 78% of teachers agreed that Connected North PD week helped improve their teaching practice. The charity reported that 94% of teachers feel that students have been inspired by the sessions and 91% of teachers say that they feel more confident in using technology. The survey also found that 70% of students are excited about what they learned in the session and 96% of teachers feel that Connected North sessions help to engage students, contributing to attendance in class and motivation for learning.
TIG reported that 85% of Sprout Ideas Social Innovator Network Co-Design Summit participants agree that they gained new skills, with 95% feeling more confident in their abilities as social innovators. In F2024, TIG reported that 89% of participants for the Francophone Sprout Ideas Co-Design Summit agreed that they gained new skills.
In F2024, the charity reported that 52% of Your Voice is Power student participants are more confident that they can be successful in a career in computer science and/or music technology.
